Squid /bandaas/calamari is a fish which tastes good when cooked properly, but consumes more time in cleaning, you must be careful while cleaning this , but nowadays we get cleaned and chopped fish in the market so no worries only thing is you need to wash well remove its black impurities sticking to it thatsall…
I have tried many types of sukkas but found this recipe a perfect, spicy, easy and tasty one for squid…this easy recipe is from my cousion… I love squid very much and that too sukka is my one of my favourite….try this easy and fast way of preparing…
•11/2 cups chopped squid (thick rings of 3-4mm)
•2 medium Onions chopped
•1 big tomato chopped
•1 tsp gingergarlic paste
•1/2 tsp turmeric
•3 tsp oil
•3/4 cup grated coconut
•2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
SPICE POWDER(neednot fry)
•5-6 dry red chillies
•2 tsp coriander seeds
•1 tsp jeera
•1/2 tsp turmeric
▪ make a powder out of ingredients mentioned under spice powder, this need not be fine
▪heat cooker add oil, add onions fry till brown add gingergarlic paste fry till raw smell goes
▪add tomatoes,1/2tsp turmeric, salt ,squid (squeeze excess water from squid and use) mix well close lid and cook for4-5 whistles…(no need to add water while cooking as squid leaves water)
▪Now to the cooked squid add spice powder mix and switch on the gas and again cook for a boil so that all water dries up..
▪In a kadai or pan add coconut dry fry this awhile no need to brown this, now add squid to this and make dry cooking on high flame then garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy with neer dosa or anything that you like..
*always cook squid properly otherwise it becomes rubbery and chewy…so its better to cook in cooker..
*same recipe can be used for prawns chicken or shell fish(marvai)…only thing is u need not cook this first in cooker ,can be added directly to the kadai…
