This is a side dish for rice , chappati….mostly known as upkari in konkani and palya in kannada….This is perfect konkani way of preparing beans stirfry..


1/4 kg beans
1medium sized potato
2 greenchilles
1red chilly
1spring curryleaves
1tsp mustard
1tsp urd dal
2tblsp grated coconut
2 tsp oil


▪First chop the beans and wash and keep aside.
▪peel potato ,wash and chop and put in water so to retain its colour.
▪Now heat a kadai add oil, and prepare a tempering of mustard ,urd dal, redchilliy  greenchilles slit and curry leaves.
▪to this add beans and potato without water.
▪mix well then add 1/2-3/4 glass of water mix again and close the lid and leave to cook.
▪keep checking so that it doesn’t get burnt.
▪if necessary add water
▪cook till potatoes are cooked
▪now add salt according to taste and coconut.
▪mix and enjoy…
